Thomas Westcott was, once again, one of the headline sponsors for a charity challenge that aims to raise money for a great local cause.
The Devon Rotarium is an annual charity bike challenge, that invites participants to cycle through East Devon, either on a 70km short route, a 110km long route or a 30km taster course, to raise much-needed funds for Devon Air Ambulance. It is organised by the Rotary Club of Otter Valley.
And our involvement didn’t end with sponsorship. Thomas Westcott Portfolio Manager Rupert Dixon was the first cyclist to cross the finish line during this year’s challenge on 14 July.
Starting and finishing at Honiton Rugby Ground, the 100km route took Rupert to Tiverton and Bampton.
Keen cyclist Rupert said: “What I like about this event is that you can support a fantastic charity while also taking part in a great cycling event. Everyone who enters pays a fee and it all goes to charity.
“We also had wonderful local support. There was food and drink stations at Kentisbeare and Bampton, serving up some really great food made by local people, which was greatly appreciated by me and the other cyclists.
“There were some really serious cyclists taking part alongside people on old bikes with baskets, all really enjoying themselves. There were cyclists of all abilities, and it was great to see so many people out in support of Devon Air Ambulance.”
